Federal University Gashua matriculates 927 students

Federal University Gashua, FUGA, in Yobe has matriculated 927 students for the 2024/2025 academic session. The matriculation marked a formal induction of students throughout the university’s faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Sciences, Education, Management, and Social Sciences. Speaking at the event in Gashua on Saturday, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, praised the new students and urged them to pursue their academic careers with integrity, focus, and discipline. She emphasized the values of academic integrity, discipline, respect, and the pursuit of excellence.

Prof. Waziri reiterated the university’s commitment to providing a supportive and positive learning environment, equipping students with knowledge and skills essential for success in a competitive global landscape. She also warned against social vices, emphasizing the institution’s zero tolerance for exam malpractice and misconduct.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to explore the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a government initiative to enhance access to higher education for all Nigerian students. Eligible students were advised to seek guidance from the NELFUND desk officer at the Students’ Affairs Division for further information and early application.

The Matriculation oath was administered by the University’s Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda.
