The highly anticipated 2nd series of The Gold dropped on the BBC today, 8 June, taking viewers deeper into the remarkable retelling of the Brink’s-Mat break-in that happened back on 26 November 1983. Rumours are plentiful that the unrecovered gold eventually found its way back into the legitimate gold market. Bonneville has spoken out about how the second series will reveal the “consequences” and the “extraordinary ripple effect” that the stolen gold had, impacting not just the UK economy but having international effects.

The drama series blends real-life heist details with creative flair, quoting creator Neil Forsyth who provided insights into the new series: “This series follows the 2nd half of the Brink’s-Mat gold and it’s also a story of the consequences faced by several of our key characters across the whole program. Rumours abound that the unrecovered gold ultimately found its way back into the legitimate gold market. There have been hints that any gold jewellery bought after 1983 could possibly be from the stolen stash. The Gold seasons 1 & 2 are streaming on the BBC iPlayer now.
