Rafael Nadal on Life After Retirement: ‘I am Having Fun… I Don’t Miss Much Tennis’

Rafael Nadal, who received a moving homage at Roland Garros on the opening day of the 2025 French Open, shared that he is enjoying the new stage of his life with his spouse and two-year-old son at the center.

Rafael Nadal hasn’t picked up a tennis racket in the 6 months since his last match. He acknowledges that he will play again, perhaps for exhibition matches. For now, he is content being away from the court in retirement, no longer driven by the competitive streak that led him to 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 at the French Open.

Although he initially felt odd not caring about winning or losing in other sports like golf, that phase has passed. While he now competes in daily activities, he appreciates a different perspective on competition.

Now, he focuses on family time, business ventures, including his tennis academy and philanthropic foundation. At nearly 39 years old, he is exploring what motivates him in this new chapter of life.

Regarding tennis, he expresses contentment, stating that he has given his all to the sport. He finds peace in knowing he can no longer compete due to physical limitations.

While the thrill of sports is unique, he looks forward to a less exhilarating but fulfilling life beyond his tennis career. Despite his exceptional achievements in Paris, he believes someone else may achieve similar success in the future.

Nadal remains humble, realizing that his records may be surpassed, emphasizing the need for luck and perseverance in a tennis career.
